Sweater Care 101

At Sivorri, our sweaters are crafted from premium materials to deliver unmatched quality, comfort, and style. Proper care is essential to maintaining their shape, softness, and color for seasons to come. Whether it's a fine merino wool pullover or a rugged cotton knit, here’s how to keep your Sivorri knitwear looking sharp.

1. Know Your Fabric

Understanding the fabric of your sweater is the first step to caring for it properly. At Sivorri, we use a range of luxurious materials like merino wool, cashmere blends, cotton, and performance wool blends. Always check the care label for fabric-specific instructions before washing or drying.

2. Hand Wash or Dry Clean

For most Sivorri sweaters, we recommend hand washing in cold water using a gentle detergent.

  • Fill a sink or basin with cold water and a splash of wool-friendly detergent.
  • Turn the sweater inside out and submerge it gently.
  • Soak for 10-15 minutes, then rinse thoroughly. Avoid wringing, as it can distort the fibers.
  • For cashmere or wool blends, consider professional dry cleaning for the best results, especially if it's heavily soiled or stained.

3. Drying: Lay Flat, Never Hang

Always lay your sweater flat on a clean, dry towel after washing.

  • Gently press out excess water by rolling the sweater in the towel.
  • Unroll and reshape the sweater on a flat, dry surface.
  • Avoid hanging wet sweaters, as the weight can cause stretching.

4. Storage: Fold, Don’t Hang

To preserve the shape and integrity of your knitwear:

  • Fold them neatly and store them on a shelf or in a drawer.
  • Avoid hanging sweaters, as it can lead to stretching, especially around the shoulders.
  • For long-term storage, consider placing your sweaters in breathable garment bags to prevent damage from moths.

5. Pilling Prevention

Pilling is a natural occurrence, especially with soft fibers like merino wool and cashmere.

  • Use a fabric comb or sweater shaver to gently remove pills, restoring the smooth surface.
  • Limit friction by avoiding rough surfaces or abrasive materials.

6. Refresh Between Wears

Sweaters don’t need frequent washing. In between wears:

  • Air them out by laying them flat in a well-ventilated area.
  • Use a fabric spray designed for wool to maintain a fresh scent.

7. Avoid Direct Heat

Heat can weaken fibers, causing shrinkage or distortion.

  • Keep sweaters away from direct sunlight, as it can cause fading.
  • When drying, always use a low-heat setting or air dry away from heat sources.

Invest in Care, Invest in Longevity

At Sivorri, we believe that caring for your clothes is as important as buying them. With a little extra effort, you can keep your favorite pieces looking as sharp as the day you bought them. After all, true style is built to last.
